Obituary of John Edward Winfield

July 14, 1964 – June 8, 2023 It is with sorrowful hearts that we announce the passing of John Winfield on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the University of Alberta Hospital, at the age of 58 years. There is comfort in knowing that with his health struggles, John took his first breath of celestial air and the storms of this life have ceased, and he is at rest. Left to cherish his memory and live out his legacy are John’s wife and companion of 33 years, Rita, his son Trevor (Sammi) and his two grandchildren, Elaine and Glenna. John will also be remembered by his sister Susan (Steve) Otway and his mother-in-law Thelma Cherrington. John was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Elaine and his father-in-law Gary Cherrington. John loved to be behind the wheel of his truck, and was proud to work as a truck driver. If he wasn’t driving down the highway, then he loved to drive golf balls down the fairway of a golf course! But golf wasn’t his greatest passion. John loved to play hockey and baseball, but his greatest sports legacy will be in the hearts of those John coached in both. John also served the Wildwood community as a volunteer Fire-Fighter, and was with the Fire Department from 1987-2016. Family and friends will miss him deeply and they will always cherish the moments of John’s life that are now memory. The family would like to share their deep appreciation for all the heart-felt wishes and condolences they have received during this difficult journey. A celebration of John’s life will be held at Wildwood Community Hall, Wildwood, Alberta, on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
