Obituary of Gerald Charles Hill
Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Jerry Hill, on June 17th, 2023. Jerry was a hardworking family-oriented man who would give you the shirt off of his own back if the situation required it.
Jerry spent his years with his siblings and cousins on Grandpa Oman’s farm, where they played in mud, gained valuable life skills, fished religiously, and enjoyed many days filled with sun. In 1974 Jerry’s life changed forever when he met Donna Irwin, little did he know, that their meeting was just the beginning. When 1976 came around Jerry and Donna decided to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta. After two blissful years, Jerry welcomed Donna to take his last name and they were married in 1978. That same year, Donna and Jerry relocated to Libya in order to work on wirelines. After one year of experiencing the culture, deserts, and scenery, Jerry and Donna came back to Grande Prairie, Alberta. 1981 came quickly, and included a temporary relocation to Sherwood Park, Alberta, before relocating to Cabri Saskatchewan in the fall. Jerry and Donna enjoyed their time in Alberta, but ended up going back to Libya in 1984. After three short years, Jerry and his family moved to Red Water, Alberta. In May of 1989 Jerry and his family settled in Whitecourt, Alberta, where Jerry began working for Scott Wireline. Jerry travelled back every August to Swift Current so that he would be able to enjoy The Eliminators Car Club, Car Show. With Coty as his copilot, they made the journey to enjoy the car show, gather with his friends and family, eat way too much food, and drink a little too much beer, but always left with full hearts.
Jerry will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife; Donna Hill, his children; Rory (Steven) Hill, Tippeelee (Art) Hill, Kelly Rae (Josh) Hill, Tahnie Shae (Ryan) Hill, Coty Mae (Dwayne) Everhart, and Gerald Charles Kennedy Hill, his 17 Grandchildren, his 8 Great-Grandchildren, his siblings; Pam (Donald) Hill, Bev (Curtis) Neufeld, Bob (Shirley) Hill, Dale Hill, Jerry’s extended family, and many friends that he has made throughout his travels.
Jerry is predeceased by his mother; Louise Oman in 1989, and his father; Charles Nelson Hill in 1974, and his brother Bim Hill in 2011, and his sister Millie in 1994.
The Hill family would like to thank those who have reached out during this difficult time. The kindness and support showed to us, is appreciated whole heartedly.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jerry’s honor on July 22nd, the location will be announced closer to that date.
