Obituary of Bernard "Bernie" Farraday Simpson

Bernard “Bernie” Simpson October 13, 1934 – June 20, 2023 With great sadness, we announce the passing of Bernie Simpson after a brief illness at Drayton Valley Hospital Centre at the age of 88 years. Bernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and educator. Throughout their 64 years of marriage, Bernie and Joan enjoyed many adventures together; taking them to Whitehorse, Fort Smith, Blairmore and Hinton. For 17 years, Bernie taught at and was the head of Hinton Forestry School and found great pleasure in his career as a forester. His love of the woods and the outdoors allowed him to enjoy the beauty when golfing, camping, fishing or hunting; he was especially proud and found great joy in the wood lot on his land. When not working, he and Joan were happy to travel, never staying too, too long in one place; venturing throughout the U.S.A. with their truck and camper and enjoyed destinations such as Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Bernie was a great dad who was very much involved in the upbringing of his children; teaching them what he could with a tender heart. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Bernie will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan; children, Wesley (Roxane), Laura (Grant) Frazer and Andy; grandchildren, Teri (Chris) Stang, Jodi Frazer, Kaitlyn Simpson and Eric Simpson and great-grandchild, Jensen Stang. He is predeceased by his parents, Anne and George Simpson and brother, Don.
