David Lucas Ian Kos
April 28, 1991 – June 24, 2023
“Family is everything”
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of David Lucas Ian Kos on June 24, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 32 years. There is comfort in knowing his battle with cancer is over and he is at rest.
Dave’s life will forever be remembered by his wife, Samantha; children, Lucas and expected son Ian; parents, Ron and Annette; siblings, Nicole (Alvin) Kotyk, Ronnette (Cory) Vig, Eric Kos, and Mike (Jenn) Kos; grandmother, Jeannine Coulombe; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Dave is predeceased by his grandparents, Art and Hazel Kos, Guy Coulombe, and father-in-law, Brad Janishewski.
Dave was a good son, best friends with his siblings, a loyal and true friend, a strong and caring dad, and was the absolute world to his loving wife. Dave put others before himself; doing for others just because he could and did it with a full heart with no expectation of payback. What others needed or lacked, Dave gathered it up and gave it to others freely, he gave of his time, money, advice or opinion to any and all with no judgement. Dave spoke freely to anyone about the potential he saw in them and he gently guided family and friends to see what was possible years down the road for themselves.
Dave was a planner, not only for the next day but far ahead - a wife, a home, children, an education, and a business of his own. Dave’s work ethic was very strong, never were his hands without a stain of grease. Dave started his own company, Kos Mechanical in 2019, which was a proud moment for his family. Dave provided well for his little growing family, wanting the very best for them in every way. Even through the storms Dave and his family remained strong. Dave, the ever-planner would see his wife and family through to the end, with all the details in place. As his wife Samantha would say, “he could see the rainbow, before it ever rained”. The family will always cherish the many moments that are now memories that were shared with Dave.
Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 4708 50 Avenue, Drayton Valley, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, beginning at 6:30 p.m. In addition, Dave’s life will be celebrated at Whitby Hall on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Interment to follow service at Riverview Cemetery. Due to limited seating, you are asked to bring a chair.
Dave’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. John Walker, Dr. Safana Mackdoom and the staff at Cross Cancer Institute and also to the nursing staff at Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Center’s Palliative Care for their continued compassion and care during Dave’s stay.
