Obituary of Claude Davio

Please share a memory of Claude to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Claude Davio on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Claude was eight years old when his family relocated to Whitecourt from Legal, Alberta. He attended St. Joseph’s school and enjoyed the time he spent with friends and cousins. Claude started working at an early age. He and his brothers became welders and worked in oilfield construction and maintenance. After transitioning into the trucking and logging industry, Claude continued to work with his family, always appreciating the opportunities in the Whitecourt area, his occupation and his network of friends. Claude was very mechanically skilled and creative. He used his welding and fabrication skills to design and build his own log loader, to rig up several trucks and always had a project on the go. On hot summer days, he loved to take a dip in the McLeod River, and in the winter enjoyed trips to Yuma & Hawaii. Claude adored his grandchildren and was always down for a game of hide and seek. He will be forever remembered by his children; Robyn (Marc) St Onge, Ryan Davio, his grandchildren; Ava and Thomas Davio, Nicholas and Natalie St Onge, his siblings; Paulette, Laurier (Jane), John (Judy) Davio and countless friends. Claude was predeceased by his parents; Edmond and Gabrielle (Regimbald) Davio and his sister Carol Bakos. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr Andrew Halladay, the staff at the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre and the hospice team at The Manor for all of their support throughout Claude’s illness. At Claude’s request there will not be a funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Friends of Whitecourt Society.
