Elizabeth “Anne” Power
April 13,1948 – July 15, 2023
Anne was born April 13, 1948, in Edmonton Alberta to Alfred and Blanche Johnson. She was raised in Winfield Alberta with her three older sisters (Ethel, Bernice, & Joyce).
On April 17, 1970, Anne married the love of her life, Ken Power. Together they had two children Kendal (Robin) Power and Heather (Mark) Tomaszeski. She has four grandchildren who are her ultimate pride and joy – Allecia (Josh), Marcus, Victoria, and Krystian. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and loved sharing in every special moment with her grandkids.
Besides family, Anne loved camping, reading, BINGO, watching curling, caramel sundaes, A&W Momma cheeseburgers, shopping (purses and shoes), slot machines, and spending time with friends and extended family.
Anne resided in and around Breton for over 40 years. She devoted 30+ years of service to the Alberta Treasury Branch in Breton and had many valued customers who expressed their appreciation of her service upon her retirement in 2004.
In later years, Anne served on the Breton Village Council including time as mayor of Breton. She was proud of being a part of the village of Breton but due to health issues needed to resign her position with council and eventually moved to Drayton Valley in 2021.
Anne passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Red Deer Regional Hospital. Anne was pre-deceased by her loving and devoted husband Ken, sisters Bernice, Ethel, and Joyce and her niece Gail (who was just like a sister). Mom will be lovingly remembered by her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Shirley Tutty, and her many friends.
As a family, we have been so blessed to have had such an amazing woman in our lives. She had strength beyond imagination and gave so much love and joy to our lives. She was the person we could count on to be always in our court supporting, cheering, and protecting! She has left an unfillable hole in our hearts, and we will miss her beyond expression.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Seasons Drayton Valley where Mom lived for the last couple of years. They embraced Mom and made the last couple years of her life comfortable, entertaining, and enjoyable. She absolutely loved all the staff who made her feel so special!
We would also like to thank the amazing staff in the palliative care unit at Red Deer Regional Hospital who ensured not only Mom’s comfort but also so much compassion for us as her family. You are all truly an amazing group of doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists.
Anne’s life will be celebrated from the Breton Community Centre on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
For those who so desire, donations in honour of Anne may be made directly to West End Pool Society.
