Obituary of Kevin Bruce Metcalf

Kevin Bruce Metcalf June 1, 1959 – September 9, 2023 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kevin Bruce Metcalf on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Drayton Valley at the age of 64 years. Kevin was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He moved to Saskatchewan in 1980, where he started and raised his family, before settling in Drayton Valley in 2001. Kevin spent his working career in the automobile industry, working his way up from shop boy, to Red Seal journeyman mechanic, to management. He loved all things racing and Nascar, and in 2010 he fulfilled his dream of driving a stock car at Michigan Speedway. Kevin always said in another life he would have been a farmer. He had a passion for the outdoors; including hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening; and he passed on this passion to his children. Kevin was a man of strong convictions, the handiest handyman, and the most generous father and grandfather. He had a wicked sense of humor, and never could get through telling a joke without laughing first. Kevin will be remembered by his children, Michael, Rebecca, and Taylor; grandchildren Liam and Tilly; siblings, Terry (Maria), Larry, Tracey (Gerry); sister-in-law, Ann; former wife, friend, and mother of his children Joy; and numerous extended family. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, John and Myrtle Metcalf; brother, Reg; sister-in-law, Connie; grandparents, Frank and Ada Metcalf and Robert and Mary McKay. For those who so desire, donations in honor of Kevin may be made directly to the STARS or the Stollery Children’s Hospital. A family service will be held at a later date.
