Michael James Wallesch
December 22, 1959 – September 18, 2023
It is with great sadness, but grateful hearts for a life so well lived, that we announce the passing of Michael Wallesch on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Drayton Valley Hospital, at the age of 63 years.
Mike gave of himself to everything he did and everyone he loved. He lived by the motto, “Live and love, give all to everything you do and it will all work out in the end.” This was evident in his strong work ethic at Weyerhaeuser, where he passionately rode to work on his bicycle for 17 years. After work, Mike enjoyed nothing more than an evening at the local pub with his friends and co-workers chasing down a few beers, listening to music, sharing in stories and bringing much laughter. Mike had a way of lighting up a room with his contagious smile. One of his greatest passions was simply sharing his love for friends and family. He had an unwavering respect and love for his brother John that went deeper than words can express. Mike also made it clear that his sister Linda was his everything. He held such a deep appreciation for her care, support and friendship over the years. Even though Mike will be missed so very much by all of his family and friends there will be a found comfort in the strong faith of knowing that the storms of Mike’s life are over and he is at peace and is resting in the arms of God. It is indeed through the love and grace of God that family shared such a strong bond with one another.
Mike will forever be treasured in the hearts and memories of his brother John and sister Linda; his aunts, Rosaline, Paulette, and Lisette; his cousins Paul Charbonneau, Lizette Arendt, and their son Pierre, as well as his nephew, Buddy Auclair. Mike will also be cherished in the lives of his very good friends, Jeff and his wife Myrna, and many other friends.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Darquise and Herbert Wallesch and his grandmother Emma Lortie, who Mike adored and admired.
The family's desired wish is to express their deep gratitude to all the nurses, doctors, and caregivers in the Acute Care Unit of the Drayton Valley Hospital for their continuous and compassionate care of Michael over his last 3 months. It is in this spirit that they ask, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Michael’s honor to the Drayton Valley Health Foundation, care of the Palliative Care Project, 4550 Madsen Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta, T7A 1N8.
While no formal service will be held, his family asks that family and friends continue to share their precious stories and moments of Mike that are now memories….
