Obituary of Jessie Inglis Mary Belanger

Jessie Inglis Mary Belanger December 3, 1927 – September 30, 2023 The family of Jessie Belanger (Robson) are so very sad to announce her passing at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre on September 30, 2023, at the age of 95 years. Our hearts are broken but we are comforted in the knowledge that Mom and Dad are together again. Jessie was born December 3, 1927 in Youngstown Alberta to James and Jean Robson. At the age of 5 Jessie moved with her family to the Onion Creek area, 5 miles west of Carnwood. Jessie completed all the schooling that Onion Creek offered, then temporarily moved to Thorsby and subsequently Edmonton, where she completed her grade 12 education. In 1944 at a local dance Jessie caught the eye of a handsome young man from Lindale. Jessie and Frank were married on Dec 27, 1947, they began their married life in Lindale and went on to raise their family there. When her 3 children were of school age, Jessie left them in the capable hands of their Father and Grandparents and went to Edmonton for 10 months where she earned her teaching certificate. She returned to Lindale and acquired a teaching job at the local school and taught there for several years. During this time their 4th child was born. Jessie and Frank resided in Lindale until 2005. When acreage living became a little too much work for their liking, a move to Drayton Valley was made, where they both resided until their passing. Jessie will be forever remembered and loved by her family to include 4 children, Ron (Sharon) Belanger, Marilyn (Bob) Curd, Larry (Cheryl) Belanger, Lorraine (Elmer) Ellis; 6 Grandchildren, Brad Degen, Darren (LeeAnn) Degen, Brent (Star) Belanger, Mike (Justine) Ellis, Courtney (Andrew) Webber, Chelsea (Darrell) Graham; 13 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Jessie was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Frank Belanger; parents, James and Jean Robson; in-laws, Frank and Joan Belanger; siblings, Alexander (Sandy), John, Emily and Jean, and son-in-law, Marvin Degen. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Season’s where Mom happily resided for the past 5 years. A huge thank you to the staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital (acute care) for the kind and loving care given to Mom in her last few weeks. As per Mom’s wishes there will be no services held. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in her memory to the Drayton Valley Hospital Foundation’s Palliative Care Suite Campaign.
