Obituary of Wayne Gordon Pederson
Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wayne Gordon Pederson, born on February 21, 1947, in Vancouver, British Columbia, passed away on October 4, 2023, in Whitecourt, Alberta. Wayne's life was a tapestry of diverse interests and experiences that touched the hearts of many.
Wayne was drawn to the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, boating camping and the thrill of watching rodeos and chuckwagon races.
In his early adult years, he ventured into the oil industry which led him to Fort McMurray working for GCOS. It was there that he tried his hand as a bus driver for Diversified. Enjoying the aspect of driving he became the owner/ operator of Pederson Trucking. He commonly referred to himself as a pebble vulture moving around Alberta chasing after these jobs.
Wayne settled in and exhibited an unwavering dedication when he and the love of his life, Gert, became the proprietors of Carpetown Interiors here in Whitecourt.
Upon retiring, Wayne embraced the leisurely days of watching TV or taking in one of the grandchildren’s activities, whether it be theatre, sports, or gymkhanas. He enjoyed the many trips to the Okanagan. Can’t forget his passion for watching the Oilers and cheering on his favourite team in all the curling bonspiels.
Wayne is survived by his loving spouse, Gertrude Stroscher, and his children Cheryl Leonhardt and Scot Pederson (Rachel). He also leaves behind his stepchildren Roxanne Krysik (Eddie Marushy), Tammy Bell (Leon), Sheldon Sullivan (Tammy Mackay), and Kelly Solomon (Dave).
The legacy of Wayne's love extends to his numerous grandchildren: Caden Leonhardt, Sarah Pederson, Christopher Pederson, Terra Milburn (Jamie), Cory Krysik (Dena), Trisha Lecours (Paul), Tyler Krysik (Alycia), Kalee Bell (Colin), Kale Bell (Dani), Alan Mackay and Dylan Mackay, Arden Sullivan, Piper Sullivan, Keiara Bryenton (Dwight), and Jayden Solomon.
In addition, Wayne was blessed with great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Aiden, Ainsley, Ethan, Jorja, Ryan, Sara, Jax, Verra, Ivy, Violet, Scarlett, Leo, and KJ.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Martin Gordon Pederson, and his mother, Flo (Flossie) Rodine.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jo and all the dedicated nurses and the home care staff for their compassionate care of Wayne. A special thank you is extended to the Crown and Anchor for their support during this time of loss.
Wayne Gordon Pederson's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love him. His legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived will be cherished for generations to come.
