Jean Anne Chitrena (Aitken)
February 3, 1943– October 16, 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jean Anne Chitrena announce her passing after a brave battle with cancer, she closed her eyes for the last time in the early morning of October 16, 2023, at the age of 80 years. The struggles and pain of this life are gone for Jean Anne, she is now at rest and sleeping in peace.
Jean Anne was incredibly creative, she worked with wood, paints, beads, and fabrics; her passion was floral arrangements, she worked in a flower shop with her sister Chris for many years, her joy was making wedding flowers. Jean Anne loved to play bingo, and she was a regular; she was lucky at cards and her favorite line was “that’s a tucker” trying to convince you she had a great hand, which most of the time she did. She so looked forward to her phone calls with her two sisters which happened daily or at least every other day. Her quick wit and laughter will be missed.
Jean Anne is remembered by her husband, Peter; children, Bonnie (Dave), Jerome (Karen), Shane (Amanda), Jamie (Terri), and Kelly (Rachel); grandchildren, Josh (Sheena), Matthew (Amy), Carol-Anne (Dustin), Jesse, Mason (Elliot), Nadia (Josh), Leah Anne, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Nia, Jason, Sara, Laihla, Aydin, Lexx, Royce, Alyssa, Eva, Logan, Farore, and Luke; siblings, Bill (Gloria), June (Brian), Sandra (Bill), and Jim; numerous nieces, nephews plus a very large extended family, that will miss her.
Jean Anne was predeceased by her first husband Jerome; parents, William and Annie Aitken; siblings, sister Christina, brothers-in-law Kenneth and Ray, sisters-in-law Ester and Annie; grandsons, Darcy and Christopher, and granddaughter Ashley Lynn.
For those who so desire, memorial donations in honour of Jean Anne may be made directly to any SPCA.
Jean Anne’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the hospital staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for their, patient and compassionate care during Jean Anne’s stay. Jean Anne’s sons would like to also thank their sister Bonnie for her unwavering devotion, care, and time spent with Jean Anne in her final days.
