Obituary of Else Alma Knitter

Else Alma Knitter (nee Seefeldt), born on January 2, 1923, peacefully passed away in Whitecourt, Alberta on October 11, 2023 at the age of 100. Else was born in Germany and endured two years in a forced labor camp in Siberia during the war. In 1953, she immigrated to Canada with her husband Hans and son Wilfried. In 1956, they joyfully welcomed their daughter Karin, who was born in Mayerthorpe. In 1960, Else and her family fulfilled their dream of owning a farm, where she resided for the rest of her life. Sadly, Else lost her beloved husband Hans in 1990. Despite this loss, she obtained her driver's license at the age of 68 and continued to contribute to the farm's operations. Else was widely recognized in Whitecourt for her remarkable crocheting skills, particularly for creating hundreds of angels that she generously distributed every Christmas. She is survived by her son Wilfried (Virginia), daughter Karin (Peter Osachuk), grandchildren Jeffery (Jolene McSorley) and Jennifer (Rob Schultz), as well as great-grandchildren Joshua, Mackenzie, Jacob, Cody, Nicholas, Madeline, and Emma Jane. Else was predeceased by her loving husband Hans Knitter.
