NORMA HOWATT (Braaten) December 13, 1934 – August 26, 2021 It is with hearts filled with sadness yet so much love that the family of Norma Howatt announce her passing in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta on August 26, 2021, at the age of 86. Norma will be forever loved and remembered by her children Sydney, Murray (Brenda), and Dale along with her grandchildren, Sarah (Shea), Paul (Leah) and Steven (Abby). Also left to cherish her memories are her sisters Inger Worthen (Dave) and Diane as well as her brother, Gordon. Norma is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ronald Howatt; parents Arne and Gunvor Braaten; brothers Engvar Braaten, Jack Braaten and sister Francis Douglas. The family will always treasure their memories of Norma’s beautiful smile, her positive and resilient spirit and especially how Norma loved her family with an unending love and selflessness. Norma was creative and hardworking, and her initiative to help form the present-day Beehive Support Services Association in Drayton Valley will remain a living legacy to her compassionate and caring heart. The family would like to thank all the staff and residents at Seasons Retirement Community in Drayton Valley; the staff and residents at Rivercrest Care Centre in Fort Saskatchewan as well as the staff and volunteers at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre. The family expresses their gratitude for the kindness and compassion extended to Norma during her time in each of these care centers. Thankfulness is also expressed to all of Norma’s many friends who she leaves to remember a life well lived. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mackenzie Centre, 5737 45 Ave, Drayton Valley, Alberta. In keeping with Norma’s determined efforts and vision for the Beehive Support Services Association, the family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations please be made to Beehive Support services by visiting online at or mail to Box 6007, Drayton Valley, Alberta T7A 1R6.
